# Carney's convincing win | More to come?

Mark Carney just won the Liberal leadership with 85.9 percent of the vote. The second place finisher got eight percent. And now the question isn't whether he can win, it's whether the Conservatives have any idea how to fight him.

This week on Craft Politics: Dan Arnold, host of the Race to Replace podcast and former lead research strategist in Justin Trudeau's PMO, joins Joseph Lavoie and Andrew Percy to answer what just happened, and whether Carney's runaway victory was about the candidate or the moment.

**The Jon Stewart effect.** Dan's take on the single most important moment of the entire leadership race, and why it wasn't a debate or a policy speech. It was a late night interview that made conservatives rethink everything they assumed about Carney.

**The technocrat moment.** Being called a "globalised technocratic elite" used to be an insult. Right now, with Trump across the border, it might be exactly what people want. Dan and Andrew unpack why the criticism is backfiring.

**Quebec's warning flag.** Dan went through the riding by riding vote totals. Some Liberal held ridings in Quebec had under 100 people vote. If Carney's French isn't strong, that's a problem no one's talking about yet.
